Day 20: 4/20/12

Miles today: 15.9
Total miles: 255.9

Solid hiking today. Left the hostel around 10:15, took my time. Immediately started steep uphill grind. Burly hike all day - uphill forever then downhill forever, up, down, etc. It's demanding but it helps if you can feel a rhythm, climbing up and down the ridge of mountains. That, and eat about metric ton of snicker bars and beef jerky.

At the end of the day was Max Patch summit: a climb to 4,629 feet, then an immense grassy bald that yielded 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. Definitely the most beautiful, picturesque view I've seen since being on the trail. Photos below.

Camped at Roaring Fork shelter.
